Process

When I first started painting, I would draw the sketch onto the canvas from my reference image with chalk or pencil.  So I would have an outline of where to start.  Now I like to paint straight on my blank canvas and adjust the drawing as I go.   After I have been working on a piece for a while I often begin to wonder if it is getting better or if I am just making it worse.  So I love to take photos of the progress to see how it changes as I go.

This three quarter pose was the one I decided to go with for Troy’s portrait.

I wanted a different hold on the water bottle.. Troy’s micro phone 😉

Which presented a problem…  a floating hand

SO.. I used my self for a model  🙂
